How to get one
- Bind Minecraft
- Apply for community access and get approved
- Join the public server once so the access applies
- Create your first world in game
A personal world takes dedicated server resources, which is why it's reviewed. For everyday practice and small or medium builds, a public plot is usually enough.
World types
| Type | Good for | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Default height limit | Regular building | 2 (the first comes with community access, the second needs an application) |
| Raised height limit (2096) | Very tall builds, large terrain | 2 (both need an application, and the second waits for the first) |
To apply, see more worlds.
Map console
Manage worlds in the website's Map console. Settings stay in sync with the game. A world is in one of two states:
- Loaded: someone is using it or has just entered.
- Unloaded: nobody has entered for a while. The save stays on disk and loads automatically when someone enters.
You can change access and lists while a world is unloaded. Changes apply the next time it loads, so there's no need to join first.
Decide who can enter and build
Step 1: choose an access type, then click “Save access settings”. Nothing applies until you save.
| Access type | Who can enter | Can strangers build |
|---|---|---|
| Private | Only you and players on the lists | No |
| Restricted public | Community-verified players, plus visitors | Set by the “Build permission” switch |
| Public | All players | Set by the “Build permission” switch |
Step 2: add to the lists as needed. This also works while the world is unloaded.
| List | Effect |
|---|---|
| Visitors | Can enter, can't build. This list has no effect on a fully public world |
| Collaborators | Can build |
| Blacklist | Can't enter |
WorldEdit, FAWE, Axiom and similar editing in a personal world is still protected by the matching permissions.
Backups and saves
Downloads, uploads and restores all happen in the Map console. Uploads and restores overwrite the map, so read download, upload and restore first.
Idle worlds and archiving
Worlds left idle for a long time may be archived. Archiving doesn't delete data, but an archived world can't be managed in the console. To get it back, contact staff through Apply / feedback.
